Hyderabad, January 15:

A 21-year-old woman committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling allegedly due to harassment for more dowry.

According to the Alwal police, the deceased, N Sudha, took the extreme step at her residence in Hashmatpet on Wednesday night. She was allegedly being harassed for more dowry by her hsuband Santosh and mother-in-law Kamalamma. Police began investigation after registering a case under relevant sections.

In another case, P Laxmi, 25, died of burn injuries which she sustained on January 11 after setting herself ablaze. She took the extreme step on January 11 and died at the Osmania General Hospital on Thursday. According to Viqarabad police, Laxmi was allegedly being harassed by her husband Lalaiah for the past two years. They were married about six years ago. Further investigations in the case are on.
